Forgiveness and Healing Have Their Own Pace

Giving or asking for forgiveness does not mean the hurt has finished healing.

An apology can matter. So can a decision to forgive. Neither automatically restores trust, removes a painful memory, or makes a relationship safe to continue. I believe we need to respect the difference. Someone may need time, changed behavior, clear boundaries, or distance. We can take responsibility for our part without demanding an immediate resolution from another person. And we can make choices about forgiveness without being required to pretend that the hurt never happened.
