Give the Solution Some of Your Attention

Name the problem clearly. Then consider what you can do, learn, or ask for next.

We cannot address a problem we refuse to acknowledge. But we can also become so practiced at describing what is wrong that we leave little attention for what might help. I think both understanding and action deserve a place. What needs to be different? What information is missing? Who could help? What is within your influence? A useful next step may be modest. It can still move the conversation beyond repeating the problem.
