Leave Some Room for Joy

You may not choose every part of your path. You can sometimes choose how to meet the moment you are in.

Joy is not a demand to be cheerful through every difficulty. I think of it as being willing to notice and receive moments that bring some light into an ordinary day. A conversation. A laugh. A little beauty. Something you enjoy doing. Those moments do not erase the hard parts of life. They can simply have a place alongside them. Give yourself permission to enjoy what is available without feeling that everything else must be resolved first.
